Thank you for your interest in a newborn photo shoot with Clare Long Photography. I would be delighted to capture your newborn baby during one of my bespoke newborn photography sessions.
The first few weeks of a newborn's life passes by so quickly, in an ever changing blur of milky smiles, sleepless nights and the best cuddles you could ever wish for. Photographing your baby at this time provides you with the precious memories of how small your baby once was, because the old cliche is true - they grow so very quickly.
Newborn sessions are best suited to babies between 5 days and 3 weeks old. All sessions are baby led, meaning I take the time to ensure baby is completely comfortable throughout the session, with extra feeds, cuddles and soothing whenever needed. The shoot is entirely at baby's pace, my aim is for you to have a wonderful experience watching the session, your baby in beautiful set ups and poses, you relax, whilst I capture these memories for you.
Each session is tailored to you and your baby, your preference of colours and poses are noted prior to the session so we can ensure that your love each and every one of your timeless images.
All sessions are held in my cosy, purpose build studio at my home address in Sidcup, Kent.
There is no need to choose your package prior to seeing your final images, approximately 2 weeks after your session you will be invited back to the studio to view and order your images and wall art.
Please contact us as soon as possible after your 12 week scan to book using your due date. Once baby arrives we can then arrange the best date for you to come to the studio for your session. There is a £65 session fee payable to secure your session - I only take a set number of newborn sessions each month to ensure I can accommodate babies, whenever they choose to arrive! This session fee is separate to the image packages below. FAQs can be found below.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. When is the best time to book a newborn photoshoot?
The best time to book a newborn photoshoot is during your pregnancy, ideally in your second or third trimester. I book by due date, and once baby is born we will schedule the session within the first 5–14 days after birth for those adorable sleepy poses.
2. How long does a newborn photoshoot take?
A newborn photoshoot typically lasts between 2 to 3 hours. This allows plenty of time for feeding, changing, and soothing your baby to ensure a comfortable and relaxed session. I block out around 4 hours
3. Where does the newborn photoshoot take place?
Newborn sessions take place at my studio in Sidcup, Kent. I have a cost studio at my home address, filled with all the props and materials needed. When you arrive the studio will be heated to ensure baby is comfortable throughout and if you have booked a bespoke session the floral arrangements will have been prepped ready for your session.
4. What should my baby wear for the photoshoot?
I provide a range of adorable wraps, props, and outfits to choose from, so bringing baby in a simple baby grow is ideal as I can take this off quickly, without disturbing your little one!
5. Can family members be included in the photoshoot?
Yes! Parents and siblings are welcome to join for a few family portraits. I recommend neutral outfits without patterns or words for a timeless and cohesive look.
6. How should I prepare my baby for the session?
Try to feed your baby right before the session to keep them sleepy and settled.
Dress them in a loose-fitting onesie so we can dive right into the session when you arrive.
Bring extra nappies, milk, and a dummy (if used) for comfort.
My sessions are always baby-led, so if feeding times don’t work out with when you need to leave, please don’t stress, you can feed when you arrive, or whenever baby needs!
7. How long does it take to receive the final photos?
Final edited images are ready to view 2–3 weeks after your session. You will be invited back to the studio to view your images and select which you would like to purchase. Once payment is received your digital images will be sent and any prints or wall art ordered. Physical products are usually ready 2-3weeks after you order.
8. Do you provide props and outfits?
Yes! I have a collection of soft wraps, knitted outfits, headbands, and baskets to create a beautiful setup for your session.
9. What safety measures do you take during the session?
I prioritise newborn safety by:
Using gentle posing techniques.
Keeping the studio warm and sanitised.
Always ensuring baby’s comfort first - Whilst you may want particular poses, if baby is not comfortable with a certain pose I will move on.
The equipment I use keeps me close to baby at all times. If for any set up I need to be further away I will ask a parent to come and help me.
10. How much does a newborn photoshoot cost?
Session prices start from £65, then the cost depends on the image package you choose - the smallest package costs £299. My client’s average spend is £800.
11. What is the difference between a standard and a bespoke session?
My standard sessions include those adorable sleepy poses on a coloured material of your choice, approx 3 images in props and family photos. My bespoke photo shoots include the above, plus photographs incorporating flowers and/or foliage in my signature style. This tends to add on am extra 3-5 images in your final gallery.
